With humour and humanity, Solitudes tells the story of the members of a family who, through lack of communication, gradually plunge into solitude.
The protagonist of Solitudes is an old man who feels misunderstood because all he seeks from his family are simple things, seemingly so insignificant that those closest to him fail to appreciate their true importance. What makes this man extraordinary is that he is not resigned. Now that he has reached the age of someone who might be thought to have reached the point where life is nothing more than a kind of waiting game, he decides to fight not to give up on his simple desires. It’s a determination to salvage his dignity, and the play unfolds the consequences for him and those around him.
Solitudes takes us on a journey through everyday life, combining seriousness and joyfulness, to move, surprise and provoke thought.
